Services & Fees

Hair loss and scalp problems can be incredibly distressing, and many people feel anxious or unsure about where to turn for help. These issues are far more common than most realise, and seeking expert advice is often the first step towards finding clarity and reassurance. As trichologists, we understand the impact that changes to your hair and scalp can have on your confidence, wellbeing, and day-to-day life.

Whether you are experiencing hair loss, thinning hair, persistent scalp irritation, or simply feel that your hair is not in its best condition, these concerns can take a toll on self-esteem. Getting the right diagnosis and support can make an enormous difference. When your hair looks and feels healthier, it often brings a noticeable lift in confidence too.

Consultation

Your first consultation at our Ipswich trichology clinic lasts around 40–60 minutes and is a dedicated, in-depth appointment designed specifically for hair loss and scalp conditions. Unlike a standard GP appointment, your trichologist will allow the time needed for a detailed assessment so you receive clear, specialist guidance from the outset.

During your consultation, your trichologist will take a full case history covering general health, family background, lifestyle and diet. This is followed by a complete examination of the hair and scalp, and digital microscopic analysis where appropriate.

A diagnosis is usually reached after both the history and physical examination have taken place. Many scalp disorders can be identified at the appointment, but certain types of hair loss may require further blood tests or biopsy, which can be arranged through your GP or carried out privately if preferred.

Once we have established the cause of your symptoms, you will receive personalised advice and, where suitable, treatment recommendations tailored to your specific hair or scalp concern. If needed, your trichologist may also suggest referral to another healthcare specialist, such as a dermatologists or hair transplant surgeons.

Our approach is holistic, taking into account all factors that influence your hair and scalp – including nutrition, lifestyle, sensitivities, allergies, stress levels and hair-care practices. Because every detail matters, your initial consultation is intentionally thorough to ensure an accurate diagnosis and a clear plan forward.

As a Registrant of the Institute of Trichologists — the UK’s only trichology body with a PSA-accredited register — you can feel confident that your assessment is carried out to the highest professional standard by an accredited specialist.

If you’re experiencing hair loss, thinning, itching or any ongoing scalp issue, our Ipswich clinic is here to help with clearer answers and expert support.

Treatment

We provide and prescribe a wide range of treatments for both hair loss and scalp conditions. All formulations are selected with sensitivity in mind, as irritation and discomfort are common concerns for many patients. Our aim is always to offer effective solutions that are gentle, reassuring, and appropriate for your specific condition.

Many treatments are designed for easy use at home and can be incorporated seamlessly into your daily routine. In some cases, we may recommend in-clinic treatments carried out weekly, fortnightly or monthly, depending on the type and severity of the condition. These sessions allow your trichologist to closely monitor your progress and adjust the treatment plan as needed. The frequency of any clinical treatments is entirely your choice.

Topical preparations for home use are sometimes recommended, and may be suggested alongside nutritional or dietary supplements where appropriate. For certain conditions, electrotherapy, including laser, high frequency, ultraviolet and infrared therapy can be beneficial when used in combination with topical treatments.

In some situations, the most suitable approach may involve cosmetic options such as styling techniques, camouflage products, hair fibres, sprays thickeners or creams. We also supply a selection of specialist shampoos, conditioners and scalp lotions for specific conditions.

Not all conditions require treatment, and treatment is only offered when clinically appropriate. In many cases, simple adjustments to lifestyle, routine or hair-care habits can play an important role in managing symptoms. Our focus is always on providing safe, sensible and personalised advice tailored to your individual needs.

Code of Ethics

We are bound by the Code of Ethics and Professional Practice of the Institute of Trichologists:

  • Our time and expertise is covered by the consultation fee. This means we have no financial pressure to sell treatments, unlike some un-registered clinics, meaning honest advice.
  • We demand no payment in advance of a course of treatment. Treatment is charged per session, so that you are always in control of your finances.
  • We treat conditions only as necessary. Many conditions can be effectively managed with our topical treatments at home, while others may not require trichological treatment.

Referrals to Hair Transplant Clinics

We work with some of the top transplant surgeons in the industry. Where appropriate we are able to refer suitable patients to transplant clinics for treatment.
